Here it is, the official press release!

A BARNSLEY band who are in the running to win a recording deal have launched a competition to get a member of the public to perform on stage with them.

Green Ball Flyers - Mark Asquith, Dean Levitt, Matt Bird and Nic Rodgers - will be performing at Sheffield City Hall in the finale of the regional heat for music competition Live and Unsigned. And now they are planning some X-Factor style auditions to find someone to sing on stage with them.

Lead singer Mark said
: "It's a great opportunity for us and when we got talking about it we realised how few opportunities there were for singers to perform with a live band. I remember being younger and being desperate to perform - so we just wanted to give someone else a chance as well."

Open auditions will be held on March 11 at the brand new Theatre Live venue in Barnsley, with singers competing for the chance to sing live on stage with GBF at Sheffield City Hall during the Live & Unsigned regional final.

The lucky winner will also receive professional vocal coaching, studio time to record a Green Ball Flyers track, a professional photo shoot with the band and the chance to perform lead vocals at a live gig in April, with the gig being recorded and streamed live via the internet.

Mark added: "It's a great competition for singers, and we think there's some brilliant talent in the community that would do really well with a band behind them. I don't mind stepping to one side to let them perform a few numbers at our gig. I can't wait to begin our search."

The competition - which the lads have called Rockstar For A Day - will be open to those over 16.
